Machine quilting is a wonderful choice for quilt finishing, and highly durable as well. I use a hand-guided Gammill longarm quilting machine, free hand or following a printed pattern. The end result is therefore not computer-perfect, and small variations will occur, adding to the handmade look we all enjoy.
Browse through my photo gallery, which includes some of the edge-to-edge patterns available. Please review the pages on Preparing your Quilt, which includes tips on backing, border and batting selection.
Machine Quilting:There are a variety of options to choose from, with a wide range in pricing.
- An edge-to-edge design (or pantograph) creates a uniform design across the entire quilt. These pantographs vary in complexity and density of stitching
- Overall meander, also known as stippling, can be a wonderful addition to any quilt. The meander can vary in size, and is an economical yet lovely choice.
- Custom Quilting such as Stitch-in-the-Ditch, stencil or ruler use, separate border treatments and similar. The time involved may be significant, and is priced accordingly.
Basting for Hand Quilting:The longarm machine is ideal for layering of the quilt sandwich, and allows for convenient basting for those who prefer to hand quilt. Basting stitches will be horizontal approximately 4 to 5-inch apart.
Binding Services:I offer a partial binding service, machine sewing the binding you provide to the front of the quilt, for you to hand stitch to the back. All corners are mitered.
Custom Quilts:Not a quilter, but want something special for yourself or as a gift? Want it done from start to finish? Look at the Custom Quilts page to see options for your made-to-order quilts.
